Q: Is this solid, veneer, laminate? What size Plasma will it hold?
A: The Pablo TV Unit has a laminate over the mdf/particle board center and will support up to a 60 inch TV.
Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) is an ideal material for painting, so it is used in all painted areas of this product. The man-made fibers grab onto paints, resisting chipping and cracking. Also, MDF does not grow and shrink as real wood can, eliminating the potential for de-lamination of the painted surfaces. The many benefits of MDF have caused it to be regularly used for furniture, cabinets, craft work, and flooring.
Medium Density Fiberboard is a manufactured, wood composite board, and more cost effective than real wood. MDF is not particle board, although they are somewhat related. MDF is denser than particle board and lacks the imperfections and grains of real wood, which makes it ideal for carving decorative trims or furniture items. The qualities of MDF also allow it to be shaped to the soft curves the demi-lune (French for half-round) style requires.
Extremely environmentally friendly, MDF uses pieces of wood and sawdust that otherwise would have been burned or dumped in landfills. The construction of MDF has increased the usage of excess lumber drastically, which has helped to boost the amount of existing forest in the United States.
